When writing down the merchant’s name under “Card”, also put down the initial amount of the card under “Amount”. Example below is a Starbucks gift card of $25. On 7/26/14, it was noted the beginning balance of $25. On 7/27/14, the Starbucks gift card was used and the remaining balance was $12.67. So next time this gift card is used, the person will write down that transaction date and the new remaining balance.
